Homes for the Holidays: Turf Now!® Supports Pet Adoption Tour
Turf Now!® of Los Angeles knows how important it is to get home for the holidays. Winter festivities mark a time to be with family and friends as we reflect on the year behind us and make resolutions for years to come. This is exactly why our team made sure absolutely everyone had the opportunity to go home this year – even those of us with four furry paws and tails!
Turf Now!® is a proud sponsor of this year’s cross-country 7th Annual Get Your Licks on Route 66 pet adoption tour. This year’s event started in Riverside, CA on September 11th and ended in Merriam, Kansas on October 17th. The tour spanned 15 cities and seven Turf Now!® franchisees participated in the festivities, including Turf Now!® of Los Angeles.
Over the last six years, the Get Your Licks on Route 66 tour has placed more than 3,000 pets in loving homes just in time for them to adjust to family life before the holidays. With this year’s numbers tallied, Susan Sims, publisher of FIDO Friendly Magazine, has made a statement: “It was our best tour yet with more than 1,000 pets finding their new forever homes, up from 600 the previous year!”
Various celebrities were in attendance this year including two stars from daytime drama “The Young & The Restless” as well as Brandon McMillan, host of the CBS series “Lucky Dog.” McMillan’s crew filmed footage at the event to air on his show.
In addition to pet adoptions, this star-studded event raised upwards of $1,000 for local pet shelters during the tour. That $1,000 will go toward shelter maintenance fees, pet food, toys, and blankets for dogs and cats who have not found their “furever” homes yet.
